How does it work?
Apprenticeship and traineeship jobs with MEGT Group Training are an amazing safety net for you.
MEGT Group Training is your employer. So if something happens at the place where you go to work – with a host employer, and you need to move, you don’t lose your job. If we can, we just place you with a different organisation. You might want to move around to get experience from other places.
Another thing is, in many trades it is really important to get experience in more than one field. If you are going to learn carpentry for example, if you go through a direct employer, you could very much build the same house frame over and over again for the course of your apprenticeship. You can’t leave your job to get different experience without putting your apprenticeship at risk.
We rotate our apprentices in different types of work, between commercial and domestic for example, and with employers that do different things. That way you get a really good understanding of your trade.
And you’ve always got someone to talk to about your work and to help you make the transition from school to a workplace environment.
MEGT Group Training talks to local businesses about the sort of people they want to employ as an apprentice or trainee through us. So you are employed by MEGT Group Training, but placed with a host employer for the time they have work for you.
MEGT Group Training advertises, interviews and shortlists candidates. The prospective host employer interviews the shortlisted candidates and selects the person they think will fit in to their workplace as an apprentice or trainee.
MEGT Group Training recruits that trainee or apprentice and provides them with appropriate work-place clothing and equipment in order to start work.
During the probationary period MEGT provides you with pre-employment training and conducts a workplace assessment to make sure you are going into a safe working environment.
MEGT Group Training enrols, monitors and manages your training with an appropriate RTO.
We monitor you in your workplace at least once every three months and are always available by phone in between. You can talk to your MEGT Consultant anytime about your work.
MEGT Group Training pays you weekly and invoices the host employer weekly or monthly. The host employer only pays for the time that you work with them.
Should the host employer find there is not enough work for you during the course of your indenture, MEGT Group Training will endeavour to place you with another, suitable host employer.
